Ritchie credits China’s dominance of solar and batteries to a long-term industrial strategy and a honed supply chain — a state and its incumbent manufacturers doing exactly the kind of durable planning Srinivasan says pre-internet institutions can no longer do. It is the clearest live counterexample to the claim, and it is a counterexample about the technology that everything else runs on.
