About
korrents is a public record of what people believe, in their own words and dated, and of when they changed their minds.
Why
The internet keeps everything people said. Nothing keeps track of what they believe: when they came to hold it, what convinced them, and how it changed along the way. Here a belief is a standing value, not an old post: it has a date, it has a source, and it is expected to move. The most interesting thing about a person is often not the claim but the difference between it and the one before.
What is here
- A claim has one page, shared by everyone on record holding it, each in their own words. What is a korrent?
- A person has a page: what they believe, in their words, and where they changed their mind.
- A topic is one question with everyone on record about it, side by side, disagreements included. Topics
- Changing your mind gathers the turns: the old words, the new words, and the stated reason. Changing your mind
- Politics follows public figures by country and what they have moved on. Politics
- By source: books, papers, blogs and shows, each with every claim drawn from it.
How quotes work
Almost everyone here did not sign up. Their pages are compiled from what they said in public, under these rules:
- Every quote is word for word, with a link to where it was said and the date. For a recording, the link opens at the minute.
- The one-sentence claim above the quotes is our reading of what they said, and is labelled as ours. Where the two differ, the quote is the fact.
- A number for how sure someone is appears only when they gave that number themselves.
- Nothing is deleted. A changed or withdrawn position is added to the record, never erased from it.
If a page is about you and something on it is wrong, or you want it taken down, email hello@korrents.com. We act on it without asking you to prove anything.
Changing your mind is fine
A position may stand for years or move next month; both are normal. When someone stops holding one, the page says they no longer hold it and keeps both versions with the reason. That is not a mark against them. Nothing here leads with “X was wrong”; it leads with what changed and why.
Taking part
- Sign in to hold a korrent yourself, dated and in your own words, beside everyone else on the page.
- Missing someone? Ask for them to be added, and you will be told when their page is live.
- Something wrong, or an idea? Tell us.
What it is not
Nothing is ranked by engagement, there are no ads, no comments and no likes. Pages are plain HTML meant to be read and linked to.
