- AI could displace half of all entry-level white-collar jobs within one to five years, even while it accelerates economic growth.
- Because AI matches the general cognitive profile of humans, it will also be good at the new jobs that would ordinarily replace the ones it automates.
- Labour markets will eventually recover from AI, but the speed of the transition makes the short term unusually painful compared with past technologies.
- Anthropic now uses mechanistic interpretability techniques to audit new models for deception and scheming before releasing them.

- Powerful AI will compress the biological and medical progress of the next 50-100 years into 5-10 years.
- Meaning in human life comes mostly from relationships and connection rather than from economic labour.
- AI will structurally advance human health and reduce poverty, but there is no strong reason to expect it to structurally advance democracy or peace.
- Universal basic income is at most a small part of the answer to AI-driven job loss.
