Lowe and Teslo hold jointly that about ninety per cent of drugs entering clinical trials fail, and Lowe adds that this happens with every control in place — so running trials faster and cheaper does not by itself move the number that matters. Amodei is forecasting compression of exactly that pipeline. If the failures are biology rather than throughput, speeding the throughput compresses the cheap half.
