Writing is thinking, so an LLM inflating a one-sentence observation into three paragraphs destroys the thing that made it worth reading.

Writing is thinking, and we are interested in your own thoughts and observations, not a sharp, one-sentence observation turned into three paragraphs of blob text by an LLM.

AI-generated writing tends to repeat the same themes, names, and underlying ideas across different outputs.

AIs don’t just repeat the same sentence patterns but also the same themes (memory is a favorite), names (Elara Voss, Marcus Chen), and underlying ideas.

Mass AI-written outreach fails on its own terms: playing the same numbers game as everyone else adds to the noise you then drown in.

Don't expect a response to an AI-written email, or a templated email. I get it, you think it's a numbers game: send a tweaked email out to 100 podcasts, and hope that at least one replies. In reality, by playing the same game as everyone else does, you are assisting to the noise, and end up drowning yourself in it as well.

A growing fraction of social media is AI slop influencers being replied to by bots — an echo of an echo of an echo.

An increasing fraction of social media consists of slop influencers using AI to make posts and bots replying to them. An echo of an echo of an echo

A low-effort AI-designed landing page costs a product its audience before the product itself is ever judged.

I'm so incredibly tired of seeing low-effort AI-designed web pages. I basically bounce off any new product immediately when I see it (never get a chance to judge the product itself). Lots of thin lines, glowy styles, inconsistent fonts, lots of monospace.

He would rather read your broken English than your AI-written text; we are reaching the point where typos are valuable again.

But I much rather read your broken English than your AI slob. You know, of course there's a human behind it, and yet they, they prompt it. I'd much rather read your prompt than what came out. Um, I think we're reaching a point where I value typos again.

To make something alive with AI you have to work beside it and resist its pull towards the average; an average email is fine, average art is not.

An average email or line of code is fine. Average art isn’t. To make something alive with AI, we have to resist its pull towards average by working beside it, shaping what it gives, and listening for what’s missing.

An AI-written cover letter reads as slop to the person receiving fifty of them, so do not send one.

I can tell when AI wrote your thing because it uses the same phrases in the same setup as all the other ones
