writing
What this subject means

writing Prose as thinking: writing well, writing by hand while a model offers to do it, and who will still be able to.

Why does writing matter, now that a model can write for you?under our view: Writing is how thinking gets done, not a record of thinking already finished

What George Orwell actually said

  1. George Orwell English essayist, journalist and novelist (1903 to 1950)
It becomes ugly and inaccurate because our thoughts are foolish, but the slovenliness of our language makes it easier for us to have foolish thoughts. The point is that the process is reversible. Modern English, especially written English, is full of bad habits which spread by imitation and which can be avoided if one is willing to take the necessary trouble. If one gets rid of these habits one can think more clearly
