Dehumanizing others dehumanizes the oppressor too; we can be human only in fellowship

Drawn from what Desmond Tutu said

What does compassion ask of us?under our view: Compassion is owed to everyone, not only to your own group

What Desmond Tutu actually said

  1. Desmond Tutu South African Anglican archbishop (1931 to 2021) and opponent of apartheid
In dehumanizing others, they are themselves dehumanized. Perhaps oppression dehumanizes the oppressor as much as, if not more than, the oppressed. They need each other to become truly free, to become human. We can be human only in fellowship, in community, in koinonia, in peace.
