Cherny says a good enough plan gets a coding agent to implement the whole change in one attempt. Pai says a machine can complete the task and completely miss the job, and that coding makes this easy to see precisely because its tasks are so legible. The plan is what makes the task legible, which is the same property that lets the job go missing.
