The reality of these 30-day programs - even the ones with the best of intentions - is that they often fuel relapse. People leave without the support system from which they benefited within rehab, they return to regular life, and they relapse. In fact, someone who completes a 30-day treatment program is much more likely to overdose and die in the year following treatment than someone who failed to complete the program altogether.
